Each barrel of Santo Cuviso Blanco is handcrafted from 100% Agave Angustifolia pinas, harvested in Sierra de Sonora, Mexico. The distillation process is overseen by Master Bacanorero, Manual “El Toro” Chacon, who infuses every drop with the sacred magic of three generations.

Bacanora has a rich history in Mexico, with the distillation of it being illegal until 1992. Despite this, it was still bootlegged by vinateros for many generations. However, since 2000, the Mexican government issued Bacanora with an origin denomination bill, meaning that only mezcal produced by the agave variety grown in the Sonora municipalities can legally be called Bacanora.

Legend has it that Bacanora was first referred to as “sacred magic” by Jesuit missionaries in 1756. The Opata Indians offered it as a healing remedy, and it didn’t take long for the Jesuits to praise the benefits of a daily dose. The legend says they broke their bread with it religiously, certain that every agave plant is a gift from God.

Regarding tasting notes, Santo Cuviso Blanco is luminous with medium viscosity and has an earthy, passionate, clean, and powerful bouquet with subtle tones of mesquite and oak. The flavor is dry, complex, slightly smoky, and naturally sweet, with a kick of pepper and an earthy finish.
