Tequila

Tequila is a popular distilled spirit made from the blue agave plant, primarily grown in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, 65 km (40 mi) northwest of Guadalajara, and in the highlands (Los Altos) of the central Mexican states of Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas.

Tequila is often made at a 38–40% alcohol content (76–80 proof) but can be produced between 31–55% alcohol content (62–110 proof). Tequila is served neat in Mexico and as a key ingredient in popular cocktails such as Margaritas, Tequila Sunrises, and Palomas.
